Mission The Rivoli Theatre and Concert Hall, Inc was incorporated as a public benefit corporation and will at all times be operated exclusively for charitable purposes to: renovate, operate and maintain the historic Rivoli building providing the East side of Indianapolis with a cultural arts center offering affordable, quality entertainment, including motion picture entertainment, theatrical stage productions and musical concert; partner with the inner-city public schools providing educational opportunities to students; serve as a community center to promote dramatic arts and act as a catalyst for community stability and economic development on Indianapolis' near-east side, an economically challenged and diverse inner-city neighborhood. Purpose The Rivoli theatre and Concert Hall, Inc will, ( 501(c)(3) status has been obtained), be dedicated to the historical preservation and revitalization of Indianapolis' Near East Side through the renovation of an Indiana historic motion picture theatre, providing a strong presence in the neighborhood to educate the community (particularly at-risk youth) who wish to pursue dramatic and performing arts as a career. Once the Theatre is operational, the Corporation will devote its time to operating and maintaning the theatre and conducting educational programs. The Corporation anticipates alternating movies to include classic movies, Saturday morning serials for children, foreign films, and modern movies. It also anticipates using the Theatre's main stage for live theatrical performances, orchestras, and other musical performances including an open mike night for up and coming performers. The auditorium can also be used seminars and conferences. With regard to its educational programs, the Corporation plans to partner with the inner-city Indianapolis public Schools and develop programs to provide educational oppotunities in the performing arts and theatre operation and business to students, with a special emphasis on at-risk youth to teach responsibility in employment, running a business, and performing arts, and to provide a positive alternative for after-school activities and allow students in the Indianapolis Public Schools to learn about careers related to all forms of performing arts, including sound stage management, counstruction of stge sets, lighting, production management, cinematography, film projection, and general maintenance of stage equipment. The programs will also provide students an opportunity to learn about performing arts by providing access to performing on stage before a live audience. these programs will foster community stablity and economic development. Governance Board of Directors: The Rivoli Theatre & Concert Hall, Inc is governed by a five-member board of directors.
